Women’s health should be the topic of the day. Here Valda Ford speaks on why we should have a better focus on improving the health of mothers. Our entire purpose in the world is to provide small people who look like us in order to continue the society. If mothers are not healthy, babies aren’t healthy and we cannot have a healthy community. Since becoming a teen mother Valda has experienced a lack of attention from providers. A failure to listen means we have a terrible infant mortality rate. What is required for women to be paid attention to during the birthing space, postpartum? We need to advocate for ourselves and have others to advocate for us. We can do this if we work together.
