Triad Author Publishes New Book: Sins, Secrets and Lies Volume 1

High Point, N.C. September 26, 2013-The creator of the Center for Human Diversity and the seminar Sex is Not for Sissies! is now a newly-published author. Valda Ford, who is from High Point, has written her first fiction book entitled Sins, Secrets and Lies Volume 1. The book is the story of a woman who thinks she is ready for marriage to the richest man in the state. Everything is going well until a childhood friend, who used to be a crush, shows up and her plans start to change. The book details the emotional turmoil of this young woman who has to decide between the certainty of wealth and the allure of the possibility of a long unrequited love.

Ford may be best known for her work with Sex is Not for Sissies!, a candid, tell-it-like-it-is seminar. With more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse and a lifetime of working to improve the lives of others, Ford discovered that the topic of sex is a taboo subject that prevents women from learning what they need to know about their bodies. The seminar is based upon Ford’s “Living, Laughing and Loving: A Guide to a Satisfying Life.” The guide was developed as a result of women asking her questions about sexual literacy, safer sexual practices and a fulfilling sex life – especially for women over 40.

“I started off writing short stories to go along with the Sex is Not for Sissies! program,” says Ford. “In that program I speak to women about the necessity of making the time for romance regardless of the type of job they have or life’s other demands. The short stories were my attempt to provide a romantic escape to assist women in transitioning from a work space to an intimate space. Along the way, everyone who read the short stories asked for – no, demanded – that I gather the stories into a book. Anyone who wants to have a romantic escape and remember how wonderful and confusing love can be would enjoy this book.”
Sins, Secrets and Lies Volume 1 is available for $9.99 on and as well as other internet-based book sellers. It is currently on sale at for $7.99 and the Kindle price is $3.99. Those interested in purchasing the book can find out more by emailing Valda at
